An
academy that believes tae kwon do is enjoyable at any age!! Master
Ben is still a firm believer that competing at a senior age is
possible, with the many gold medals achieved he is a great role model
for our Academy.
On the 13th & 14th October 2001 the Universal
Tae Kwon Do Academy hosted over 60 senior Tae Kwon Do participants
for the 8th Australian Masters Games.
Competitors ranged from 30yrs - 61yrs. Our highest ranking belt in
the competition was 6th Dan Black Belt from Victoria.
Masters Games competition continues to grow and with proven success
from the Australian Masters Games the Universal Tae Kwon Do Academy
hosted the Tae Kwon Do event for the first Trans Tasman Masters Games
in 2003 at our club house. We were excited to have the largest number
of competitors from New Zealand.
Again in 2005 fantastic people from New Zealand and all states of
Australia enjoyed a social dinner under the stars at our clubhouse
on the Friday night. This gave competitors an opportunity to meet
and commence the friendly competition. With 2 days of competition
by Sunday new friends had evolved. This friendship and great fun continues
to get stronger amongst Tae Kwon Do competitors from their two countries.
On the 11th & 12th March 2006, three of our very own Universal
Tae Kwon Do Academy competitors (Master Ben, Gavin, Condor and Donna
Burton) represented the academy in Auckland New Zealand. And the
medal tally for our academy continues to grow. The 2006 year ended
with the Master Ben successfully competing at the Pan Pacific
Masters Games at Surfers Paradise in sunny Queensland.
We
will be conducting a seniors championship (18years to masters) on
Sunday 1st July 2007 at our clubhouse.Entry
forms will be available soon. Please see our contact page if you
have any further questions and wish to contact us.
